Donating Toys & Rugs

Toys And Rugs: A Touch Of Comfort With Every Wheelchair

Every wheelchair that leaves our factory carries more than mobility - it carries a little bit of comfort and joy.

Alongside the wheelchair, each child receives a handmade knee rug and two soft toys. These small gifts often become treasured companions, offering warmth, security and fun for their young owners. The toys also offer a much needed distraction during the wheelchair fitting process.

Wheelchairs For Kids Australia

Soft Toy Drives

We collect new and gently loved soft toys and rely on public donations to raise the 5000+ toys we ship overseas every year.

You can help by organising a ‘Soft Toy Drive’ for Wheelchairs For Kids Australia within your family, your child’s school, your workplace, church, club or association. Toy drives are a fun, low cost way for children to get involved in fundraising and a fun activity for people of all ages.

To Host A Successful Soft Toy Drive, Please Note The Following:

  • Toys should be from 15-30cm approx. We can't use very large or very small toys.
  • Toys need to be suitable for children from ages 3-4 years through to teens (many of the children have development delays and like soft toys no matter their age).
  • We only accept soft toys, ‘plushies’ or teddies - we do send any other toy items, games, books etc
  • We prefer toys without hard plastics (except noses and eyes) and do not accept toys that contain battery packs.
  • Pre-owned toys should be clean, without marks, stains or damage.
  • Toys can be delivered to Wheelchairs For Kids Australia Factory in Wangara at 10 Buckingham Drive, Wangara from 7:30am to around 2.30pm Monday to Friday (excluding late Dec-mid Jan) or by arrangement.

We do not have any toy drop off points other than our Wangara factory. If you host a toy drive, please ensure your community has a local drop off point at your school, office, church, club, etc.
