About Our Website Partnership with PrimeSites Digital

Introduction

Wheelchairs For Kids Australia (WFKA) exists to make mobility possible for children with disabilities in the world’s poorest communities. From our Wangara workshop in Perth, hundreds of volunteers craft fully adjustable, rough‑terrain children’s wheelchairs built to World Health Organization guidelines . Every chair is donated free of charge to a child in need, transforming their health, independence and future . This commitment to dignity, quality and inclusion extends to our online presence - our website is not just a brochure; it’s a tool that supports our mission.

Our partnership with PrimeSites Digital

In early 2026 we engaged PrimeSites Digital - a local web‑design and hosting studio based in Joondalup/Perth - to redevelop our website and provide ongoing technical support. PrimeSites had been hosting our previous website since March 2022, but we wanted a refresh of the design and upgrade the user experience.

PrimeSites Digital Logo

PrimeSites specialises in practical WordPress development, hosting, SEO and performance optimisation.  The partnership has allowed our small team to focus on wheelchairs and children while experienced professionals manage the digital platform.

  • Shared values: PrimeSites understands the non‑profit sector and shares our passion for making a positive impact.  Their approach respects our charitable status and ensures that technology serves our mission rather than distracting from it.
  • Local collaboration: With PrimeSites located in the Perth region, communication is simple.  We benefit from fast support and an understanding of our local context in Wangara and Western Australia.

Overview of the website project

Goals:  Our goals were to create a website that reflects our story, improves donor and volunteer engagement, loads quickly on all devices, and is easy for our team to update.  We wanted to provide clear pathways to learn about our mission, donate or volunteer, and to showcase the global impact of our wheelchairs.

Challenges:  Our previous site was slow, hard to update and confusing for users.  Important information was buried; donation and volunteer forms were not intuitive; and performance issues hurt our search rankings.  As a charity, budget and ongoing support were key considerations.

What PrimeSites provides

PrimeSites delivers a full suite of services, including:

  • WordPress development and hosting: A custom Divi‑powered theme built to our brand, with flexible page layouts, donation prompts and volunteer forms.  Hosting is managed on an Australian server with Cloudflare integration for caching and security.
  • Technical support and maintenance: Regular software updates, backups and security monitoring keep the site reliable and secure.  PrimeSites responds quickly to support requests and handles technical issues so our staff and volunteers don’t need to be web experts.
  • SEO & performance optimisation: The site is structured for search engines and AI systems using Rank Math schema enhancements.  Page load times have been reduced and images are optimised, improving our Core Web Vitals.  Mobile friendliness and accessibility improvements ensure visitors on any device can learn and donate.
  • WooCommerce & integrations: Donation buttons link to our Shout For Good platform.  The site also integrates newsletters (Mailchimp), contact and volunteer forms (Gravity Forms) and analytics tracking.  WooCommerce powers a small shop for memorial plaques and accessories.
  • Ongoing improvements: As our needs evolve, PrimeSites adds new features - such as volunteer application forms , accessibility enhancements and improved content editing.

Storytelling and transparency

Goal / Challenge

Share our history, mission, values and global reach.

How it was addressed

The site features rich content about our mission , WHO guidelines and the Adjusta wheelchair model . Stories and news posts highlight children helped around the world.

Performance and accessibility

Goal / Challenge

Make pages fast and usable on phones, tablets and desktops.

How it was addressed

PrimeSites configured caching, image compression and lazy loading. The Divi layouts are responsive, navigation is simplified and alt tags are added to images.

Easy content management

Goal / Challenge

Allow staff to update news, embed videos and add pages without technical knowledge.

How it was addressed

The WordPress backend uses custom post types (news, volunteers, supporters) with ACF fields for structured data. Training sessions empower staff to manage the site.

Technical and usability improvements

  • Mobile optimisation: The site now uses responsive design with clear typography and larger touch‑targets.  Volunteers and donors can complete forms on phones and tablets without zooming.
  • Improved navigation:  Mega‑menu navigation groups the site’s sections - About, What We Do, Volunteer, Stories & News, Get Involved and Contact - making information easy to find.
  • Structured content:  Custom post types for news, stories and volunteer roles ensure consistent layouts.  Content is tagged for sectors and regions, improving internal search.
  • Performance gains:  The website has been configured with caching, image optimisation and Cloudflare support to improve loading performance. Optimised images and on‑demand script loading reduce page weight.
  • Security & compliance:  SSL is enforced; security plugins and server firewalls reduce vulnerability.  Cookies and privacy policies are transparent.

Ongoing support relationship

PrimeSites provides continuous support and maintenance through a subscription plan.  This covers WordPress updates, plugin monitoring, daily backups and periodic performance reviews.  Our team receives support for content updates and training sessions.  PrimeSites also monitors uptime and responds quickly to unexpected issues.

Local business relevance

WFKA operates from Wangara, Western Australia.  Our volunteers, donors and partners include local residents, Perth businesses and government supporters.  Having a website hosted locally ensures fast performance for our Australian audience.  PrimeSites’ presence in Joondalup/Perth fosters an understanding of our market, enabling targeted content and SEO for Western Australian donors, corporate sponsors and volunteers.

Feedback About  Working With PrimeSites Digital

5 out of 5 star rating

“Marizanne of PrimeSites could not be more helpful in redesigning our problem website. Costs are very reasonable and without extras appearing. As we are a charity, Marizanne has donated a lot of her time to helping with associated problems.”
