A container with vital chair components due in February did not arrive as expected and necessitated a closure of the workshop from March 7th to 11th.
A local plastics supplier (AFM ) was contacted by Ollie Picket and an order was placed on them to supply seat and seat back components to make up for the shortfall caused by the hold up.
AFM supplied these parts at very short notice and supplied them at an extremely reasonable price.
WFK participated in the annual Carine Community Fair with a stall selling Toy plane raffle tickets, potted plants, honey, cards and other items. The stall managed to raise a very nice $1620.
On Tuesday 19th we drew the winning ticket in the Model Airplane pedal toy raffle. The lucky winner was one of our WFK volunteers Murray Carter who planned to give the ‘plane to his 2½ years old grandson. How great is that! The raffle resulted in raising $3824.00 -a wonderful achievement!
During March, a container with 166 wheelchairs was sent to Mongolia via China road transport and a similar container was sent to Tanzania through World Vision.
School fund-raising supporting WFK continues and this month resulted in donations flowing in from Rossmoyne Senior High School ($2500) and Trinity College($10000)- wonderful !
A very generous lady supporter of WFK very kindly donated $3000 which was used to purchase a new high speed precision aluminium cutter.
One of our sewing ladies amazed us by making 224 cushion covers in one donation.
A very successful ‘Music Bingo’ fundraiser evening was held and raised $1713. A very nice boost to our funds!
